Secret Coves of Southern Ibiza: How to Find Paradise Away from the Crowds

June 11, 2026 10:45 am

Ibiza is famous the world over for its white-sand beaches and crystal-clear waters, but finding a peaceful corner in the south of the island during the busiest months can feel like a real challenge. With the right local knowledge and a little planning around timing, though, it’s entirely possible to discover true hidden paradises without battling the dreaded crowds.

If comfort is a priority, the ideal base for exploring the south is Playa d’en Bossa. It’s the island’s longest beach and the perfect launchpad for getting around. Right here, on one of its quieter, more exclusive stretches, you’ll find Hotel Torre del Mar. From this oasis, you’re just a few minutes’ drive from some of the most breathtaking coves in the Mediterranean.

Below, we’ve mapped out a route to the best beaches in southern Ibiza, along with a few insider tips to help you experience the island at its most relaxed.

1. Las Salinas: The Natural Icon

Salinas Beach in Ibiza

Though it’s one of the most famous and photographed beaches on the island, its sheer length means there’s always room to spread out, if you know where to look. Set within the Ses Salines Nature Reserve, it’s prized for its powder-fine sand and shallow, turquoise water.

  • Our tip: The main car park charges a fee and tends to fill up fast from around 11 a.m. To escape the busiest spots (usually clustered in front of the trendiest beach bars), the trick is to stroll a little way along the shore heading south, toward the Torre de ses Portes. The closer you get to the tower, the quieter and more unspoiled the beach becomes.

2. Es Cavallet: Nature at Its Purest

Es Cavallet

Neighbour to Las Salinas, Es Cavallet is a wild, open beach known for its laid-back, clothing-optional atmosphere. Its dunes, protected by native vegetation, give it an incomparably pristine feel.

  • Our tip: You reach it via the same road as Las Salinas, taking a narrow turn-off on the left just before the nature reserve. The car park is paid and noticeably smaller. The key to leaving the crowds behind is to park and walk to the right (heading south). The central stretch of the beach has barely any facilities and is a genuine haven of peace.

3. Cala Jondal: Elegance Among the Pebbles

Cala Jondal

Renowned for being home to some of Ibiza’s most exclusive beach clubs, Cala Jondal is a sweeping pebble bay lapped by astonishingly clear water; with no sand to cloud the seabed, visibility stays remarkable.

  • Our tip: It’s well signposted from both the airport and the town of Sant Josep, with free parking in the shade of the pine trees. To enjoy the bay without the buzz of the beach clubs, settle in at either end of the cove, where the mood is far more mellow. It’s also worth bringing proper footwear (water shoes) to wade in comfortably.

4. Cala Llentrisca: A Secluded Snorkelling Paradise

Cala Llentrisca

One of the most secret and solitary coves in Ibiza. There are barely any facilities here, but its rocky setting, crystal-clear waters and spectacular seabed make it the perfect spot to slip on a mask and dive in.

  • Our tip: Park in a residential area near the picturesque village of Es Cubells and walk roughly 600 metres along a footpath. That short stroll is precisely what keeps the cove safe from the crowds. Remember to pack water and everything you’ll need to make the most of the island’s most untouched natural beauty.

5. Playa de Ses Boques: Switching Off, Seafood Style

Ses Boques - Sant Josep (Ibiza)

Tucked beneath the towering cliffs of Es Cubells, this is a small, peaceful pebble cove fringed by pines and old fishermen’s huts. It offers a wonderful escape and is home to a wonderfully authentic beachside restaurant, perfect for anyone who appreciates good traditional cooking right by the water.

  • Our tip: You reach it along a forest track after taking a turn-off near the Es Cubells church. Since it’s a dirt road, we’d recommend driving slowly and taking your time. The journey is well worth it to uncover this seafaring corner where time seems to stand still.
